Chapters 9-12

1.      In Chapter 9:4 God forbids Noah to eat meat that has no blood in it. Why did God put this restriction in place? Verse 5, Explain this verse and what it means.

2.      What was the covenant God made with Noah, in verses 9:9-13. What does God put into clouds so that He will be reminded of His Covenant in verse 9:13? Was this really a sign for God, who is all knowing, or was it a sign to Noah and his descendants of God’s covenant. What is the sign we see today?

3.      In Chapter 9:18 we see that God curses Canaan. Why was this? What did Canaan do that was so wrong or did he? Was it a curse on Ham and Canaan, or just Canaan.

4.      Chapter 10 outlines the descendants of Noah and his 3 sons. Why is this important to know. What can we learn from it?

5.      Chapter 11 starts with showing that all the Earth had one common language. What was the thought that put them at odds with God? What do you think was the effect on God when he saw what they were doing?

6.      What did God do to correct what He had seen in Chapter 11 and how did it impact the society? What are your thoughts about what God did?

7.      Again, in Chapter 11 we see the ancestral line of Shem, Noah’s son. What is the importance of  this?

8.      In Chapter 12 we see that Abram, who is a direct descendant of Shem, and his wife Sarai were living in Haran as a result of Chapter 11 verse 31. What was God’s message to Abram and explain the covenant God made with Abram.

9.      In Chapter 12 verse 7 we see God once more appearing to Abram and telling him that He would Give Abram this land. What land was it and why is it important to understand the importance of Chapter 9 verse 25. Remember the sons of Noah and their descendants to see the connection to God’s curse upon Canaan!

10. In Chapter 12 verse 10 we see Abram going into Egypt because of a famine. What was Abram’s instruction to his wife and what was the final result of this. Do you see the hand of God in this and if so explain.
